AI Plus Plus

I have been playing for some time now with text to image AI software programmes. An example of an outcome is shown below with the various steps to completion.

Start was a relatively uninteresting  image created using the artist Hans Bellmer as part of the text reference.

1. The basic outcome was this image:

2,This image was cropped and modified in Photoshop to convert to grayscale, then increase contrast and brightness:

3. Converted to a displacement file:

4. Taken into an image convertor to create an .stl 3D file:

5. Next step was readying the resulting file for CNC cutting in Cut 3D:

6. Preview of finished CNC work for completion in MDF (not wood):

7. Cutting in progress:

8. Finished mdf panel sanded, sprayed with white sealer/base coat. Burned while drying to create a secondary texture and key for subsequent surface colours, base red ink applied with some water colour crayon detailing:

9. First oil glaze in green applied and wiped back:

10, Two x yellow/orange glazes applied partial wipe on 2nd:

11. Two x red glazes with wipe. Final selective yellow/orange glazes to complete, ready for farming when dry.

Catching up

Seasons greetings to all readers. Stay warm!

I have been playing with several text to image AI software apps to produce some personal imagery.

Coupled with this I have produced a series of pdf’s to show how designs can be illustrated for stimulus to making. They have been uploaded to World of Woodturners site for members to use or comment.

I might produce an e-book later to download from my website.

In the meantime I have used one image from my play period to produce another ‘abstract’ bowl form.

I have modified the image then converted it to a relief for CNC cutting”. The result will appear in the next edition of the Wood Symphony Book out sometime in the New Year. I have also used it as seasonal swap piece on the WOW site and is now in its new home in the US.

More treatment

This coming week I have the excitement of laser treatment on my left eye. Blood vessels have been growing so need zapping to burst them. Unfortunate consequence may be loss of some peripheral vision. All more or less clear on endoscopy and colonoscopy but no answers yet on iron deficiency anaemia. Had an iron infusion to see if that helps.

New kit

After a long wait caused by the shutdown in China my new 3d scanner has arrived. Looking forward to seeing the results.

Busy month ahead

Finished radiotherapy on Wednesday, now on fast track referral for suspected upper GI cancer. Nephrology appointment this week. Eye appointment at the end of the month to see how much improvement has occurred since injections last month and decision about further treatment.

Difficult to concentrate on creative work at present. Hope to do image for new Parkinson’s exhibition soon.
